Technology selection is a critical decision for banking projects. The capital markets will not accept any form of technology risk in project financing. Do not introduce a built-in project finance handicap.
Technologies must be proven at full commercial scale, supported by robust technical and financial data, or discerning financiers will dismiss the project during underwriting evaluations.
If technology is unproven, deploy it alongside mature technology platforms at small scale until validated, as financiers disregard new-technology derived revenues, making fractional use an acceptable approach.
Innovators should take a strategic long-term approach, adopting new technologies gradually so they can scale or replicate them once proven alongside established financially acceptable technology platforms.
